Our friend Matt Hendricks is opening up a board game cafe in Philadelphia this Summer called Thirsty Dice and we're super excited to see this passion project of his come to fruition. Being we can't wait for the cafe itself to open, we're hosting Matt here at Herman's for an afternoon of coffee and boardgames. Matt will be bringing some of his favorites along for free play and will even help walk everyone through directions on how to play each of them if needed. Come for Sunday Brunch and stay to spend the Spring afternoon with us playing games.
Brotherly Grub was the first truck to pull up for Sunday Brunch and went all out with a full service struck serving breakfast sandwiches, shrimp and grits, and more and then a full omelette bar inside. We haven't received a menu yet for this trip, but we're sure it's going to be a not-to-be-missed brunch again.
Later this year, South Philly Smokhaus will be setting up shop in the Bok Builiding, but till then they're doing pop-ups around the city to give people a taste of what's to come. We're super excited to have them set up at Herman's. They'll be here for most of the day with their tasty bbq. They'll have egg-topped sandwiches in the morning and traditional sandwiches with slaw for lunch. Also look for sides such as mac 'n cheese and corn bread.

Two months ago, we quietly opened our garage doors in Pennsport. It took us some time to finally get open (over a year!), so once we got open, we wanted to do so 'softly,' as they say in the food service industry. There's always kinks to work out and refining to be done (we're already on our second coffee roaster as you may have noticed).
Now that the new roaster is in place and we've had some weeks to work through service, we feel like it's time to implement some new changes and really celebrate that we're finally open. To do so, we're going to throw a Grand Opening Celebration.
The main change that you'll notice is the new hours. We've had a number of requests to open earlier, so we're going to open an hour earlier. Starting October 28th, our new hours will be Monday-Friday: 6:00am-6:00pm and Saturday & Sunday: 7:00am-6:00pm.
As for the celebration, we're going to kick things off on Saturday, October 28th with special pricing as a thank you to all of our amazing Pennsport neighbors who have been so welcoming of us since we opened. Stop by all day for $3 Cappucinos & Lattes (including all specialty options), $2.5 Cold Brews, and $1.50 Drip Coffee. We'll also have an assortment of Hello Donuts to go along with our daily seletion of pastries from High Point Cafe.
This same day, we'll be featuring the Pennsylvania delicacy and king of breakfast meats, scrapple. Local author (and co-founder of Herman's), Amy Strauss, will be signing copies of her brand-new book "Pennsylvania Scrapple: a Delectable History" and Chewys Philly Food Truck will be setup inside grilling scrapple sandwiches. We'll also have a special Pennsylvania Dutch-inspired latte or two featured to pair with your sandwich and book.
Sometimes, you just need a break to color. Join us for an intergalactic coloring party at Herman's Coffee.
We’ll bring the art and colors; you can bring your friends and colleagues. Fill the OTHER WORLDS coloring sheet that waits on each table with your own shades, then discuss your color choices (or cats, or coffee) with artist Saul Rosenbaum.
